The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals "are a call for action by all countries - poor, rich, and middle income - to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        UN SDG wheel

Your Research and the SDGs

Your research can contribute to the attainment of the SDGs. Aligning your work with specific SDGs can highlight its relevance and improve its potential impact.

To improve the visibility of your research and showcase your contribution to the attainment of the SDGs, there are some simple steps you can take. By analysing the main themes of your research and matching these with the corresponding SDG keywords and phrases, you can improve the accessibility and relevance of your work.

The two ways of incorporating SDG keywords into your work are:

  • Using SDG keywords in the title and/or abstract and/or free text of your work
  • Tagging your research with SDG keywords as author indexed (or author keywords) when submitting for publication
