Open Resources

A collection of Open Access Resources

Initiate

The initiate stage involves gaining an understanding of key OER concepts and the process of creating an open textbook. This will help the decision-making and planning process. Staff who express an interest in creating an open textbook will undertake training that covers:

  • OER concepts
  • finding and evaluating open textbooks
  • understanding copyright and licencing
  • planning your open textbook project.

If you have not already received funding, at this stage you may seek out and apply for an OER grant. Some options include:

  • SCU OER Grant Program (pilot in 2025)
  • CAUL OER Collective Grants.

See the OER Grants section of this guide for more information.
