Preparing for Success

Evaluating your sources

Is the information you found relevant to your assignment topic?

Have you found academic / scholarly journal articles - do the articles need to be peer-reviewed? If you are not sure if a journal is peer-reviewed, check Ulrichsweb - Global Serials Directory.

Apply the CRAAP test to evaluate the sources you find on the Web. CRAAP stands for:

Currency  - the timeliness of the information
Relevance - the importance of the information for your needs
Authority - the source of the information
Accuracy - the reliability, truthfulness and correctness of the content
Purpose -  the reason the information exist
